Texas Hold’em Poker is a rapidly expanding phenomenon within pubs in the UK.

Redtooth Poker offers a completely legal solution but also gives players the opportunity to play for prizes or for small stakes within the guidelines set out by the Gambling Act 2005 .

Redtooth Poker has proved extremely successful with hundreds of pubs experiencing a substantial increase in sales on their poker nights with an activity that generates a very positive atmosphere and creates a community spirit in the pub.

Redtooth Poker events require customers to be in the pub for an extended session from 7.30pm to 11pm.

The league runs for 13 weeks. Pubs are able to join at any time during the season. Pubs are not disadvantaged by joining midway through a league season.

Three players from each venue qualify for quarterly regional finals. The winner and runner-up automatically qualify and the venue has a choice of either the third placed player qualifying or staging a play-off on a separate night for players finishing from third to tenth in the league. We would recommend the play-off system as it would maintain interest for a greater number of players throughout the season.

Each pub winner is presented with a glass trophy and certificate at a presentation ceremony held at the regional finals.

There are up to 68 regional finals nationwide each year, where your customers compete against players from other local participating pubs to play for the title of regional champion. The top players at regional finals will qualify for the national final and compete to be crowned UK Pub Poker Champion™.

Subsequent seasons start the week following the end of the current season. This is so pubs and players do not lose the momentum of staging a regular weekly event. Players earn points for each game played. The number of points awarded depends on their finishing position.

Since September 1st 2007 pubs have been allowed to play for small stakes or prizes. The maximum stake per person is £5 up to a maximum pot of £100 per night, any prizes given away cannot exceed £100. Private members clubs can play for increased stakes of £10 per night with a maximum pot of £250. Venues are not allowed to charge players or to take a cut from the pot.

There are other legal restrictions and procedures which each venue needs to follow in order to fully comply with the law and the penalties can be severe.
