Forget Paul the Octopus, meet Sam Stockford from the Railway Hotel in Dartford.
He’s just been presented with an authentic signed Pelé shirt for predicting the scores in the World Cup games correctly and beating other players from across the country.
Sam played in the Redtooth Crystal Ball game, an online score prediction game where regulars at his pub tried to predict the scores of the games throughout the tournament and scored points as they went along – Sam came top of the whole UK league, beating around 2,000 other players to claim the prize.
‘It got a little scary towards the end but I knew as the final score came in that I’d done it!’ said Sam who topped the chart by only 5 points, but it was enough to guarantee the win.
He was presented with his signed shirt at the Railway Hotel in Dartford and friends and staff celebrated his victory too.
